Some upper managers don’t understand that what they want to see happen isn’t realistic. They often don’t have the background, resources or skills needed.

This is because of economic and tech changes in recent decades. Instead of their employees trying to disagree with upper management and being gaslit, I suppose someone could just go along with the mismanagement. That way when the goals don’t work out it’s the fault of upper management. Then the business or organization can become a zombie that just barely functions at a basic level.
