I’m a junior in college graduating next year (hopefully) with a poli sci degree. I want to work in politics (not in the sell your soul to oil companies way but in the protest for the environment, advocate for marginalized groups way) and damn near every job I’ve looked at requires some sort of prior experience, seeing as I’ll be coming out of college to apply for these jobs, I decided to pick up an internship to gain some experience. This shit is a fucking scam. I won’t say the job title but there are very few of us working and if you were to look up the shit we do it’s easily a 40K-50k job that we are doing for free. I don’t come from a well off family and I’ve had to go down to 5-10 hours a week at my job that I actually get paid for ($10 at that) because the ppl who run the program will call and email at random times during the day asking me to do things. Sorry for the rant but I’m sitting in my bed on the verge of fucking tears wondering how I’m going to pay my credit card that I’ve had to run into the ground since I’m making like $100 a week right now. Capitalism is a fucking disease lmao.
