Started job in biotech. Regret even studying the field.

Started a job in the biotech sector and can confidently say I hate it. I wasted years working under a terrible PI in academia to get the credentials to work in the sector and my first job immediately spits in my face. I apply for a job that’s listed as having a pay range from 55k-85k depending on experience. They send me an offer letter that is $10k below what was listed, and when I point that out they claim that I’m missing some experience they wanted. When I brought this up in the interview, they said it would be no problem. Still, I conceded just so I’d have somewhere to work. All their reviews online said they had a good work life balance, which is what I care about. They lied. It wouldn’t shock me if they made fake reviews. I’ve yet to leave on time a single day.…

They lied. It wouldn’t shock me if they made fake reviews. I’ve yet to leave on time a single day. I’m writing this while I work a mandatory extra 3 hours (unpaid). Apparently this isn’t uncommon. Once I finish this post, I’m going to learn SQL on Khan academy so I can jump into data analytics. I have never felt so exploited so quickly.
