I had a weird situation recently.
Decided to quit my job of 3 years for various reasons. Went to collect my check and turn in uniforms on Friday morning. Was offered a different position, he told me to think on it and let him know by end of day. I panicked & called him later that afternoon and accepted the job.
After overthinking all weekend I decided that I would in fact still resign afterall. Sunday morning, I applied for unemployment even with a high probability of being denied for quitting. (Worst they can say is no) But I had no way to tell HR my decision until Monday morning.
After even more overthinking and insomnia I decided to actually go in Monday morning straight to HR & told him all of the above and that I wanted to instead take FMLA leave. Which I am currently on due to burnout & other mental struggles.
It's unpaid* but it protects your job for awhile.
Worth looking into if you're also on the edge ðŸ«
So my job is safe and most importantly of all, it's forcing me to take steps to recover my mental wellness.
PS: also look into your employers EAP program. Mine offers like 3 free therapy sessions.
