Teaching, or: Staff association fees are fucked

Every year, the (public) school I work at asks for $50 in staff association fees for gifts/dinners/fun things for the staff. For the past few years, I've paid the fee – wanting to be a team player and all. This year, they can take that money from my cold dead hands. The employee agreement for the next 4 years is less than 2% p/annum, without a reduction in class sizes or administrivia – the two most important factors across the state for teachers. So, fuck it. I refuse to work past contract hours. I'm not volunteering for camps. I will do my job, but not the expected (yet unacknowledged) 15-20 hours of unpaid overtime. I'm a person not a fucking martyr.
