Thank you from the bottom of my heart

I have been following and enjoying this sub for a couple years now, and all of your posts and comments have really helped me to see things in a new perspective. I was able to use what I've learned here recently, and I want to say thank you. Last Wednesday, we found out that my boyfriend's father has stage four cancer, and probably won't make it more than a few more weeks. His first thought, sadly because of how we are conditioned, was, “I can't take off work, we won't be able to afford to live if I even miss one day! What are we going to do?” And because of everything that you all in this sub have taught me, I told him that we will figure it out. Never let work or money determine how you make the most important decisions in life. I let him know that we would figure it out together, and the worst regret he could have in the future is not being there to see his father before he passes. So, we used part of our rent money to pay for a rental car and headed out to the next state over to see his dad in the hospital. He's not doing well, and it's really sad. Sure, we're broke, can't pay rent on time this month, and will have to struggle for a while, but we'll be OK. We'll figure it out. As long as he gets to be by his parents' side during this difficult time, that's all that matters to me. And thank you all so much for opening my eyes and heart to the complete bullshit that is our modern society and helping me realize that life and love are far more important than stupid work and money. Thank you SO MUCH.

TLDR; Thank you so much to the people of this sub for giving me the strength to help my boyfriend take off of work to see his dying father in the hospital.
