Firstly, I want to say from a moral standpoint I don't agree with government mandated overtime exemptions, it is legal wage theft.
But I see a lot of threads here that someone runs into what is likely an overtime exemption issue, and the general response is.
“This is illegal, get a lawyer”
Which sadly won't result in anything but wasted time and energy in many cases.

Please keep in mind some states have protections on top of these federal ones, so you should look into your local labor laws as well.
Hopefully people understanding this will have a better grasp of when they are being improperly exempt, and when they aren't.
