I'm scrolling through Indeed for the billionth day in a row trying to find a job that will just treat people like fucking people, and I come across a listing in the film industry, widely known to be one of the highest paying industries in the world, for night shift security guards at $11.50/hour.
So I find the company on Facebook, toss them a message asking how they think an adult human being with bills and responsibilities can live on $11.50/hr in 2023. They reply that unlike most companies, they schedule the overtime right into everyone's days, so really it ends up being a $42k/yr job, if you think about it!
I ask why a person should have to work more than 40 hours a week just to earn a sustainable living, and they replied that people don't HAVE to, it's a personal choice! And further, I definitely shouldn't apply for the job, and then they suggested, on an official company account, that I go back to school for a higher education.
I'm kinda wondering if I should start making phone calls until I get someone in charge to ask why it's okay for their social media person to insult someone's intelligence on an official account. Thoughts?
