The nightmare comes to a bitter end for them. Treat people better.

I’ve been with my company as a whole for 7 years. I have never had so much trouble except this past year. I started in a new office, I was on maternity leave and they offered me a new position at a higher pay to come back early. I was told I could take the rest of my maternity leave at a later date. And everytime the later date came, I was told I couldn’t take leave due to staffing issues. Over and over again. I went through a lot of personal issues and health issues the past 2 months so I took sick days. I took 4 total. I was advised I was being unproductive and disrespectful by not being at work.

Because someone else had to cover me for those days, and we still have staffing issues.

I looked for a new job within the company. I moved states 5 months ago and was advised I would only stay in this toxic office remotely for a few weeks until they found my replacement. Which turned into months. I kept pushing my start date for the new job to accommodate them.

Friday I took the day off for an emergency with my children. I got a nasty email stating I was leaving disrespectfully and after all they did to accommodate me moving states I need to leave my current position respectfully.

Even though, I never asked to keep working in the office. I asked to take the 10 weeks I have left of my maternity leave I didn’t take until I started my new job in a different state. But they asked me not to. And I kept accommodating what they needed.

I explained my personal life, frustrations, and desire to finish my maternity leave multiple times. The manager replied with a be in the office Monday and call HR if you have issues.

This story ends with me taking my maternity leave now until I start my new job. Im also working with my ethics team on them denying me taking my leave and giving me a hard time for using paid sick time off.

Stand up for yourself people. The best advice I got during these past few months of work hell is these people won’t be at your funeral. Put life first and job second.
