The Overlook Staff in The Shining had far happier staff than businesses do today.

Delbert Grady and Lloyd The Bartender, both were allowed to speak to customers without being judged. Neither were mistreated by managers or forced to do degrading tasks. The hotel customers weren’t rude or unpleasant, there were no Karens complaining about treatment, and no staff member was looked down upon for the role they did. When staff are allowed to meet the Overlook’s needs instead of focusing on trying to maximise profits, they are happier.
