The time I “didn’t exist” to my company that treated me like crap

So once upon a time, I was working for a daycare/ELC. It was Fortune 500 accredited and was supposed to be one of the top daycare chains in the country. I worked there for almost 2 years until I decided to look for another job in childcare because admin at the place was HORRIBLE. They'd leave you off the schedule if the manager/schedule maker didn't like you or make you pay for your mistake in some vindictive way if you did something the manager didn't like (IE, I used bleach in the toilet [after hours, no kids around] after a kid had a bout of diarrhea instead of “enzyme cleaner” and I was made to pay for a new bottle of bleach or be put on probation) I told one of my friends there that I Was looking around for a new job and would probably be putting in my…

I told one of my friends there that I Was looking around for a new job and would probably be putting in my 2 weeks soon. She talked about that with someone else there, yada yada it got to management and they pulled me into the office to talk about how terrible of an employee I'd been. Which I know is bullshit because the company had deemed me good enough to go work in the epicenter in our state during the pandemic with doctors' children so they'd have free daycare (insurance later cancelled the plans). I was one of the ELC's 5 essential workers. I was excellent at my job.

Well they fired me on the spot. I went to file for unemployment later that week and was called later by my old manager who told me that I didn't exist in their records and wouldn't be getting any of the necessary paperwork for unemployment. I didn't have any physical checks with the company's name on it, since it was all sent to my bank account with just the manager's name on it. They did later send me a W2 form. I didn't have any idea how to handle it, being only 20 and it was my first job I'd been fired from. Fuck them…
