The time I never went back.

Story time. Back in 2007, I was in college full time, working nearly full time hours at a blue electronic store, and serving at a not-Italian Italian chain restaurant. I enjoyed the job, liked the people I worked with, but I was really busy. Oh did I mention I was also playing baseball for the college. One week there was a schedule released against my availability where I had practice scheduled for baseball. I hit up every server, every possible person I could think of to cover my one night shift, one. I could not find anyone. So while working the lunch shift, I go to the manager instead of just calling in like every other person would have. Me: Hey general manager of the OG, can we talk about my schedule quick?

OGM: Yes follow me to my office.
Me: So I have baseball practice this afternoon, and I have tried to find someone to cover my shift. No one is available.
OGM: Well you know, you have a responsibility, and you need to make sure that we are a priority. This is something you should learn in life, getting your priorities in order. You'll be letting down your coworkers. I expect you to be here.
Me: Okay. Well talk to you later.
Internally: Priorities huh. Well there's family, friends, baseball, school, my full time job, volunteering cleaning out chicken coups, and this fake Italian restaurant. I should get my priorities straight.

It rained that afternoon, practice was cancelled, and I went to work the shift. OGM remarked it was good to see me there, and I did not show up for a single other shift at that establishment. Remember what your priorities are kids.
