This is why I stopped working above my role or pay grade…

At the time this happened, I worked for a company for about 6-7 years. In many chats with my boss, I expressed a desire to learn new skills and transition into a different role within the department. After a few weeks, I had come up with what was essentially a job description for a role our team needed and would actually be very useful for the boss. She really liked it and said she’d look it over and “think on it”.

Several weeks go by and every time I inquired about it she would say she hadn’t had time to look at it or some other blanket excuse.

A few months go by and all the sudden she posts an internship job description using the description I had created. She made a few changes but it was essentially 80% or more the role and document I had created.

She went on to hire a college student for the role and she acted like it was all her idea for this role.

And that folks is why people are “quit quitting”…there’s no incentive or reward for advocating for yourself or going above and beyond anymore.
