tipping for shadow work

i was just at a self service ShakeShack and when I was at the kiosk they asked for a tip with a little banner that said that the tips go to the kitchen. does that mean that ShakeShack can pay them less like they do for waiters? ie. as long as the pay equals minimum including tip it’s legal
