Told could take full days and any time needed for bereavement then expected to work

Got news a relative passed away on a Friday and emailed my manager over the weekend of the exact service times I would be OOO (span of 2 days). Unsure of travel arrangements, I didn’t include travel times in the initial email and said I could log on early to wrap up some reports both mornings as it was expected to be a very busy time. Her response: Take the full days and any time you need we will figure things out. Her actions: Expects me to be on and working those 2 mornings, actively messaging me about progress. Sends overnight email with work expected the next morning but I was driving back home 5hrs after the funeral. A week later tells me I failed to communicate and need to inform her and her boss about such things in future. I told her I ended up logging on at 2pm…

I told her I ended up logging on at 2pm when I got home and worked until 8pm that day. She put the burden on me…I was doing a favor working those mornings to help out. The company probably owed me 3 days off no questions asked but I didn’t have time to read the handbook/find out.
