Told my supervisor that I’m pregnant and now my hours are cut.

hi, it's me, the girl who found out she was pregnant in her 2nd trimester after using protection. i had an OBGYN appointment on Thursday and found out i was actually closer to 15 weeks pregnant, i had to get another ultrasound done and the ultrasound tech put me being closer to having a due date of late October / early November based on how developed the fetus is. safe to say it's been a rough weekend and this was just the shit cherry on the sundae. i come in early when i need to, i stay late when my supervisor / store manager asks me. i'll come in at 6 am for a planogram and there have been times when my supervisor has asked me to pick up coffee for her and i'll do it. i've been employee of the month three times now, i pick up shifts whenever…

hi, it's me, the girl who found out she was pregnant in her 2nd trimester after using protection. i had an OBGYN appointment on Thursday and found out i was actually closer to 15 weeks pregnant, i had to get another ultrasound done and the ultrasound tech put me being closer to having a due date of late October / early November based on how developed the fetus is. safe to say it's been a rough weekend and this was just the shit cherry on the sundae.

i come in early when i need to, i stay late when my supervisor / store manager asks me. i'll come in at 6 am for a planogram and there have been times when my supervisor has asked me to pick up coffee for her and i'll do it. i've been employee of the month three times now, i pick up shifts whenever a coworker or seasonal worker just doesn't show up. i've gotten the most credit card sign ups and i really do my best to bust my ass and keep our metrics up and keep customers coming back.

today, my supervisor posted all of our schedules in the group chat and my hours that are usually 28-29 per week are suddenly down to 10. i had to tell her on Saturday when i clocked in that i was pregnant because there's no way i can lift those heavy boxes for stocking or maneuver the ladder once i'm farther along. i can still do it now but i wanted to give her a heads up. she said i'd have to train my replacement and she's going to start looking to hire a seasonal worker to cover me because i'll get 6 weeks of unpaid leave

i messaged her privately asking why did my hours get cut so drastically. i need these hours and she knows that – i've shared with her before that sometimes i have to utilize the food bank at my local community college (its open to everyone, not just students) to get from payday to payday and her response was that now that i've shared with her i'm pregnant, she can't “work me like normal” and she “had to cut my hours” per the district manager which i don't fully believe.

i'm so upset and just beat down at this. i really liked my job but it wasn't enough to live off of, much less survive. now that i have another life to take care of / look after, i know i need to find a better paying job and something that isn't as unpredictable as retail. i pretty much took her cutting my hours as a sign of “get fucked”

i've already applied for SNAP, WIC, medicaid and TANF and i'm waiting to see if i've been approved (honestly getting approved for any of these would be a huge blessing) but this was a huge kick in the teeth i wasn't expecting. no point in me being loyal to a job that discards me so easily :/
