Too old for office drama what should I do

Ok I am typing for my wife as I am generally lost on advice to give for this situation. My wife (f43) changed careers 5 years ago and became a dental assistant. She now works for a young dentist at the front desk. She is the oldest in the office and the dentist is growing his business. She has been there for a year and things had been going great she finally found a place without petty drama. Two months ago dentist made a dental assistant (f27) the office manager, seemed logical, someone to deal with vacations, etc. plus she already handled all the ordering. Everyone was friends in this office and no drama. But in the past month my wife feels she is being nitpicked by this new office manager. She’s keeps a note book and even asked the other front desk person to fill out a sheet with all the mistakes my wife made. Where as my wife would just fix the other’s mistake and give her a heads up so she didn’t do it twice. The workload has doubled since they brought on a new dentist fresh out of school and they also have to, spend hours rescheduling patients as they let one hygienist call out a lot. So my wife, after being talked to again notice the office manager’s notebook and that she was referring to it when discussing things for her to fix. So on Friday she sought this notebook out and she is the only person with anything in the notebook. I can’t figure out the end game other than this young woman doesn’t know anything about management or HR. The dentist is young and has not been firm with any employees and now it seems the situation is going to get to the point where my wife is going to look for another position. My thought is to ask for a meeting with the dentist and the OM and confront the issue to ask what the purpose is and why, chalk it up to them being young and inexperienced. Patients rave about my wife on their reviews on google so I just don’t get it. Any advice?
