Unusual work situation, bosses are great but coworkers are not.

I just finished college and am gearing up to start my career this fall. But in the mean time, I grabbed a full-time position at a grocery store for the summer, with the potential of staying on weekends or even just one day a week once my actual career starts up. I was transparent about this at the interview and the store manager, assistant manager, and even most of the department managers are fair and not trying to work the staff into the dirt which is awesome. But it's the coworkers who have been working at the store for 15 years and are in the same position as me, or “team leaders” who are one step above normal staff.

They are the ones making my job miserable with micromanaging.

While working Backstock on a slow day I paused in the warehouse for a moment debating if I should take my break right now or do one more cart, and one of these people came right over to check what I was doing and make sure I was working because I stood still for a few seconds.

Some people would call me lazy, but I don't mind working when there is meaningful work to be done. Just got slammed with a huge order that needs to hit the shelves ASAP, I'm on it. Storage area desperately needs reorganization because there's hardly space to walk around, I'll do my best.

But I can't stand it when there's nothing to do but rather than just send me home people want me to spend 3+ hours doing menial cleaning or odd jobs like scrubs the grouting in the warehouse or some shit. Another time I was doing one of these cleaning tasks and got chewed out for not putting enough water into my bucket. I'm a full grown adult and I think I can handle wiping down a shelf

I'm not going to cause a scene or report it to higher ups unless it turns into straight bullying, especially because I know this will only be for like 2 months and then I'll be either working one day a week, or not at all.

It's been nice going into a job with the mentality of “I'm only here for a few months”

You know that sort of energy and feeling after you hand in your notice – “what are they gonna do, fire me?” That's me since day 1 at this place

Just wanted a space to vent
