Upcoming contract negotiations

In our pre contract negotiations meeting I mentioned about getting a 30 hour workweek for $30 an hour for our work. Somebody told me that with our increase in productivity over the last several years we should only be working 20 hours a week. Right now we get paid $20/hour for 40 hours a week so I’m going to push for $40/hour for 20 hours a week. I’ll be ok with 24 hours a week but this is all about planting the seed. We’re making record profits, and there is no reason why we shouldn’t also be sharing in that. Right now I’d be thrilled for 32 hours a week. Most of the people are only really productive for half their shift anyways so with a 40 hour workweek they’re basically paying us to be unproductive for half our shift and those who actually work non-stop for their 40 hours…
