UPDATE TO THIS POST My job sent out a mass text to all Employees, stating that we can’t lock the store until exactly 11pm(closing time) and to do all closing duties after. Problem is, we don’t get paid past 11. Is there anything they can do if I keep locking up 5 minutes earlier.

I don’t see why I should be past my shift time if I don’t get paid, also they expect us to have the store open and ready to go at 9pm but don’t pay us to exactly 9. EDIT Sorry, just to clarify to everyone, I’m in the North of Ireland so I’d be by UK laws! My bad, should’ve mentioned originally. Update So tonight I locked the door at 9:57 (we closed at 10 and I was scheduled too 10) I was then phoned by the boss just after I got outside scolding me for closing early. I told her that since I don’t get paid past 10 then I shouldn’t be in the store doing my work still. To which she replied saying that Im paid to serve until 10. Which I would find fair if I was paid after for the 5 or so minutes it takes…

I told her that I’d happily keep open to 10 and do my close then if I was paid for those extra few minutes and she replied “it’s only a matter of a few pennies” I told her it all adds up but she just wouldn’t listen and now she wants to speak to me in person sometime this week. I don’t see what leg she has to stand in so the talk will be interesting!
