My sincere apologies if this is not the right place for this. I'll happily repost elsewhere if needed.
I am on health insurance through my job. It's not the best, but it's also not the worst I've heard of. I'm also Type 1 diabetic and in need of a new insulin pump. After talking with the companies it's going to be $1,100+ upfront to get started and then $300 every 3 months after that. That's after I've met my deductible (met this year already) and insurance is paying 80% off the cost. That's just for the pump and on going supplies. That doesn't include insulin, which for me is typically $200 every 3 months. So per year I've got over $3K in medical expenses waiting on me, just to live decently. That doesn't include any dr visits, lab work, unexpected emergencies, etc. And by live decently I mean manage my diabetes in the best way I can so I can live the longest/without complications. FSA won't cover that much either, so there's gonna be some really lean months at the end of the year.
So I was just curious, where are my fellow diabetics at on these types of expenses? You also tired of paying so much just to keep yourself alive in the US? People elsewhere, what are you paying per month/year?
