I’m listed On Call at my serving job today (a whole other bullshit thing I don’t want to get into) and the rule is we’re supposed to be called 2 hours prior to our shift. Today the shift starts at 3:30, they tried calling me in at 1:35, which is within two hours. I told them I couldn’t be there (it’s true, I already have movie tickets tonight). Anyway I feel guilty and they’re kind of making me feel guilty because I guess they’ve got a lot of reservations now. But I’ve worked 5 straight nights so I just really want to spend one night with my girlfriend, who works a 9-5. I know this is silly but growing up with conservative parents has me feeling a certain guilt about not going in, especially since I could always need more money.
