Put in for a new job at work that I've already been doing on an interim/temp basis for a few months after a colleague got promoted(they are now my boss). They definitely earned the promotion and I'm very happy for them.
Was just told I met the initial cut-off for the job, and it was basically mine, but my boss' boss said a pay increase wasn't possible because it was considered a lateral move. This is true on paper, but in reality, there is a lot more responsibility for the new job
Told my boss not to bother interviewing me in that case because I won't take on the additional responsibilities in the long term without a matching pay increase. He said he'd talk to some other people and get back to me.
I'm in the US. I do not work for a private company. That's all I can tell you, job wise.
