After being on leave for 3 and half month from November til now. I was told that my 40 hours shifts are filled and now If I want to return back to work I will have to do 16 hours. I made sure to keep in contact with HR and in January I wanted to come back but I was told I couldn’t come back without a doctor note and that my position will be held for another 90 days.
I get there (today) and they tell me I haven’t keep in contact with them. (Which I did, there were texts messages, I sent doctors note thru email. )They were going strictly off of phone calls which I only had the information of me calling them, they never called me. Never left a voicemail but we’re adamant that they did. I told HR, that I wanted to come back in January and they told me no bcuz I need a return to work letter. My doctor was booked out til February and I told them that and that’s when HR said my position will be held for 90 days from the January over phone call.
HR still claims they never knew when I was coming back. (Btw there only 1 lady that works in HR) After talking she gave me a paper to sign she said you either take the 16 hours or not come back to work. And me being young and having no other sources of income,I said okay. I thought I was going to get my schedule right then but the scheduler told me to go home. I get home the scheduler calls me says There over filled with people so you will just have to wait til something opens up.
(Mind you they didn’t ask for a doctors return to work note)
Now truly I don’t mind waiting another month before I go back to work but my savings account is struggling. I never been in a situation like this before. Is this normal for jobs to do this? I forgot to mention I also work in a rehab facility.
