My co worker received the following email from our boss.
“Dear ____,
I understand you will be out of the country, and off work, for 6 weeks. I wanted you to be aware that although we value you as an employee at —————— and will do our best to hold your job for you, we cannot guarantee that this will be possible. You must understand that if we find that other workers are unable to cover your work while completing their own work at the same time, we may have to hire someone to fill your position.
I hope this will not be the case and that we will see you back at work in 2023.”
I have the feeling the boss will ask me if I am able to handle the workload in her absence and if I say no, we will hire someone else and she will get fired.
If she is let go, will she be eligible for unemployment benefits (CA)?
She has already been thinking about leaving after months of him deciding on her behalf whether she is full time, part time, and then back to full time.
How can I help this queen get the best out of this situation?
Thanks for the guidance!
