WFH Policy

My employer allows some departments to WFH 100% of the time but not mine. We're only allowed WFH 2x per week. I work in an office. I've been bending the rules and not coming in on Fridays because 1) No one is in the office. I'm practically by myself in a big office building. 2) Because it doesn't make a difference if I'm in the office or home, I'm still doing my job. 3) Why should I waste gas money to drive 15 mins to sit in a building by myself? I've been bending the rules and not coming in on Fridays because 1) No one is in the office. I'm practically by myself in a big office building. 2) Because it doesn't make a difference if I'm in the office or home, I'm still doing my job. 3) Why should I waste gas money to drive 15 mins to sit in a building by myself?

There was a week when my boss and multiple people were out. So naturally I worked from home. I don't think it's a big deal if I don't come in on Fridays and I don't see the need to tell my boss. She gets to WFH any time she wants.

I recently found out that HR is going to start running reports on badge swipes in/out of the building and I'm starting to panic. They are cracking down on allowing people more than 2 days WFH. I just don't get why it's such a big deal since other departments are allowed to.

I feel like I'm going to get written up or fired.
