What is the point of hiring someone if you’re only going to give them 8 hours a week and send them home early every day?

My new job is retail and part time. I have worked there almost a month and I have open availability. I only get scheduled one or two days a week and nearly every day I work I get sent home after only working 2 hours. They claim because they haven’t met their profit goals for the day but I’m usually the only person that gets sent home and other people get to complete their entire shifts. I wonder if they over hired and are quiet firing me? The store made $10k over their expected goal yesterday but today I lost 4 hours of (abysmal) pay. Corporate greed and at will labor laws are the obvious answer to the reason they can make 50k in a single day and won’t even pay me for a whole shift making under $15 an hr. Side note: Yes, I will be quitting because it turns out I have to go in for immediate surgery but they don’t know it yet. If you have fun ideas for quitting on the spot let me know lol.
