You guys ever encounter this with wierd shit. It's like there is this little social circle at work and they all conform to the way it is and if you don't then you're the out sider. I've encountered this many times over the years. Usually end up the out sider. It really is a stupid mob mentality thing imo. They will all start acting in denial about how unhealthy something is that they're doing and gaslite you till you leave. I had to quit a couple jobs because of this.
One job wanted me to work 5:30am - 9pm all week even after I told them in the interview multiple times before the season started, I don't want more than 40. One guy was like "you just need to get your mind right and work all these hours and then during the winter you can go out of town live like a king for a week and still have 3k in the bank" haha as if 3k is any major amount.
I encountered the same thing with a different company but it was the guys smoked pot and drank beer every day after work. I like to live healthy and do not like any of those activities. I ended up quitting from both jobs because I got tired of trying to fit into thier weird boxes that they thought were normal.
My favorite was when I was younger and I was supposed to learn a new skill. It was for full nose steps and I didn't know how to miter them. I started on it and asked the guy how I should do it and he got all mad and was like “cut the fucking paver” I was kinda mousy then but eventually I warned him to never fucking talk to me like that again” haha just a young kid. This guy was about 10 years older and couldnt make eye contact with me for 2 years after that.
Another time in the good old factory. I was about to put my two weeks in. It was 2:30 on a Friday (shift ends at 3) I decided to sit down and cruch cloth for molds since it's an easy task. Boss comes over eye balling me. “You really need to sit down when you do that?” Me honestly replys – it's 2:30 on a Friday and this is easy work I hurt my back this weekend racing quads so yes I would like to” boss- “you wanna go home” me still being honest not a smart ass – “. . . It's 2:30 on a Friday and my back hurts so yes I do”. He walked away. Next week I gave them a two week notice and them being the nice idiots they're fired me 10 minutes later. I thanked them for the two weeks of unemployment before I start my new job.
Too long dont care? – What is the weirdest gaslite you guys have encountered in the work place?
