I'm UK based and see a lot of American people talking about getting write ups at work on here, but what is a write up and why is everyone so worried about getting one? Here in the UK we have a written warning which is basically a step along the disciplinary process to getting fired but it seems like write ups just happen whenever managers feel like dishing them out and there's no next step just more write ups til they decide to take it further which makes them pretty meaningless anyway. Why are people panicking about getting written up?
