What’s your advice?

By reading what I’m about to write, I’m sure I sound like I know the answer. In the very beginning of this year I got a job as a front desk associate at a small hotel. The perks is it was closeby, relatively quiet, and more or less I got along with the people working there. But soon after I got the job, the manager left and the owner over the building was calling the shots for a while. We started getting calls asking if we were turning into a homeless shelter or not. I wasn’t notified. Soon it made the paper that our hotel wasn’t going to be a hotel anymore. Basically the staff were the last to know and it was confirmed very late in the game. So now people from the state are running the show and all i was told to do was to sit at the desk “and look pretty”. Which pissed me off. My duties also include making room keys, answering the phone, communication with security and odd jobs. I’ve been getting over 40 hours a week so I shouldn’t complain.

But to sit there even when I bring enough work to do for 8 hours (I can’t have a break to eat) is affecting my mental health. If I play music I like, the state workers complain. The state workers are pretty nasty to me and ignore my hellos. I feel irrelevant. They are also extremely loud the entire time. There are kids screaming and crying constantly, and shady business. I feel caught. I almost quit before and I regretted the thought because I need money. I never get weekends off, and the last weekend I requested off I was extremely sick and still am, thanks to my job. My sleep schedule is all messed up since my shifts get out at midnight.

The heat doesn’t work there and I’ve consistently gotten sick since starting.

My coworker gave her notice today, and I’m home sick from a horrible cold that’s been going around at work. Also the boss is handsy. Is 16/hr worth it for this place?
