I need safety shoes for work, my employer is legally required to provide it and replace it every year or two. Why is it always such a battle to get them to buy quality shoes? We wear them for 10h a day everyday. It's in everyone's best interest that we have comfortable shoes which at minimum don't cause injuries or other medical conditions. Yet the company I work for is the third company in my career refuses to pay more than 20-30£ for footwear. And it's not even like I ask them to get me some fancy stuff for £100, I just wanted som mid-range shoes which cost £50 ex. Vat. It's also not the factor of scale. We have like 12 people required to wear them and on top of that, not all of us have them replaced at the same time, so it's not that they need to cut cost to not spend a lot of money. And even if they did it doesn't matter. The business I work for is a family firm, but I also worked in multimillion (or billion?) pound worth international conglomerate and it was the same battle. Obviously, the higher ups have no issue spending way more on cars valeting and other useless shit. I hate such pettines.
