Why I left before the end of my two week notice

So it's at the ending stages of covid, I'm working as an industrial electrician and recently just started this job at a new plant because the previous plant I was working for ended up shutting down because of supply chain issues caused by Covid. My previous employer was a major automotive assembly plant, and my new job was a very small factory. I went from just being a dependable middle of the pack electrician with a maintenance dept in the 100s. To small maintenance dept with 5 employees. I quickly became the go-to guy at my new plant. (Not to say that the other guys were bad at their jobs. They just had a lot less experience in their roles than I). So, I was a couple months into this position when I was offered a position at a different plant with a lot better pay. I did the right thing and went to my supervisor, complemented him on his work environment that he created, and offered to take on as much electrical jobs that he could find in my two weeks that I had left because the other techs didn't have a strong electrical background. After a couple of days, my supervisor went from being a cheery, nice guy. To not even acknowledging me in the morning (OK, whatever, I thought).

So it's the 7th day into my two week notice, and he asked me to run some conduit from a control panel to a supervisor's desk for a 120VAC outlet. So I do a walk down of the job. The conduit run is on the ceiling of the shipping and receiving dept. It's a constant high traffic area with forklifts always loading and unloading semi trailers. I noticed the potential hazard and went to my supervisor. I said I have no issues doing this job. But can I either have a roped off section when I'm up in the air on my lift or a ground guide to direct traffic away from my lift. He said, “Come with me.” He takes me to the shipping and receiving depts supervisor's office and said in a mocking tone ” Hey, I have an employee who's scared on of your guys is going to hit him, can you tell your guys to becarefull around him when he's in the air” patted my shoulder and said “there you go” and walked away.

I was livid, confused, and didn't know how to respond. I walked to the lift and decided that I was only going to go up in the lift when I felt comfortable. So I only went up in the lift during their two, 10 min breaks, and there 30 min lunch. Obviously, I barely got work done. And since I had all that time to sit and stew. I came to the conclusion that my safety is no longer a priority because of my two week notice. So once my shift was about to end, I cleaned out my desk, packed up my tools and loaded everything in my car, and never came back.
