Why is it quit quitting when you do your job, but not quiet firing when they only pay you your wage and nothing more?

So tired of this expectation to go above and beyound for the carot on a stick. Until I look at my paycheck and find and extra $100 thrown in just because expect me to do just the job you hired me for.
