An Open Letter To:
The Home Depot; why are you so confusing and rude towards people applying for a job?
I applied for two jobs through the Home Depot website and experienced nothing but login issues. I’d be logged into my account, try to apply for a job and be asked for a login again, but now it isn’t accepting my password. After much confusion; I figured out I have at least 3 logins with the same email.
1 For the job I am REALLY INTERESTED in; Design Connect Designer, job ID 163187: I appear to have been linked over to a third party page, Peopleclick, and my app is stored there. However; it does not acknowledge my other application. It shows I only have this one application active.
2 For my “Plan B” option; Kitchen Designer at the Moses Lake, WA, store, job ID 122815BR: I appear to have been linked over to a different third party page, Brassring, and this app is stored there. However; it does not acknowledge my #1 application. It shows I only have this one application active.
3 somehow I have a THIRD login through Home Depot directly, where I spent a lot of time “filling out my profile” to help with my application process … well it says I have “NO ACTIVE APPLICATIONS”
All of these accounts have the same email address, and now have the same password, and all of these accounts were randomly accessed though the Home Depot career page; except I don’t know which links took me where because of the literal run around I had to go through when trying to apply for these two jobs
So I called the Moses Lake store to see if they have received application #2. I was given the phone number
888-MYTHDHR to call.
I call that number and there are no options to speak to a human, but also no options that fit my needs, so I get to customer care to speak to a human. He says he has the number I need to call: 888-698-4347.
After I hung up I realized that this is
888-MYTHDHR.
So I call in again and get to another human. He gave me this number again. I explain, “Yes, sir. This is the number I called and got to you.” he tried to give it to me again. I said again, “but this is the number I have been using and got to you.”
He quickly says, “I can’t help you.” And HANGS UP ON ME.
So – long story short (too late) MAYBE my applications are getting to the right people? MAYBE I have a shot at an interview? MAYBE I might have a shot at a job that perfectly suits my skill set, experience, and creativity? I have no idea.
And I have no idea why I am supposed to hold three (who knows how many more if I were to apply for other positions) login accounts for one employer to apply, and track, said applications.
figuring out all of this; what is going on, and then getting hung up on when trying to get help … literally took four days of work for two job applications.
I sincerely hope you don’t subscribe to the trope, “NoBoDy WaNtS tO wOrK aNyMoRe!”
