Rant
Work at a Maccies as a shift manager and they are always going on about beating record hours , days , weeks in terms of sales ( and various other blagged conflicting targets ) and whenever we beat one there's a big celebration in the group chat or another manager will be beaming with pride eager to share with me how they beat some record. It takes a surprising amount of energy out of me to feign an ounce of enthusiasm for these accomplishments, good news everyone, we made our franchise owner more cash than ever! Now back to work.
What is there to be excited about when I'm removed from the benefit of the extra work it takes to achieve that new record? Also beating sales records is inevitable when you consider the prices go up which is something no one seems to realise.
Don't get me wrong I work hard, but my motivation comes from leaving a clean well prepared store for the next lot, and looking back at a shift that ran smoothly. After too many years here I lack any excitement or enthusiasm for hitting the targets that will aid the franchise owners.
Side note we do get quarterly bonuses if all store targets are hit but it is the equivalent of a solitary salty brown droplet of piss (picture that scene from the Inbetweeners two) in this trickle down world we live in. Run me and my team ragged for 3 months for a chance to get about 3 and half hours wage bonus?, na I'm good .
