(NH) This is more of a rant and not so much seeking advice. Here's a little bit of background: My wife didn't like any prospects for her field, so she got a part time job at a restaurant and started in January. I recently accepted a job offer in a different city, so we will be moving. With the positive equity in our house, we won't be hurting for money once we sell, and we can manage for the next month or so. My wife also has a good job prospect in our new city in her field.
When my wife was hired, she told her manager of our planned vacations. A couple weeks in May and a couple weekends in June/July. If she needed a weekend off, she would tell them with weeks of notice. Before our planned vacations, my wife would typically work 3 weekday shifts and one weekend.
A new manager was hired in May. A few weeks ago she told my wife that if she requested the weekend off that she would have to prioritize weekday shifts to those who didn't request time off. Now this is the second week in a row of no scheduled shifts.
I just think this is shitty tactic of the new manager to try and bully her to not request time off. We don't need this job, so we are just brushing it off. I just can't help but feel for some younger kid or someone who really needs the shifts. I just think it's shitty of the manager. I don't know what it is with some managers in service industry/retail, they are just bullies.
Anyway, thanks for listening to my Ted Talk.
Tldr: Wife took a couple weekends off and new manager stopped scheduling her, which I think is shitty.
