K so I'm a 3d artist and a bit ago they told me to start doing our systems testing, which is what our systems engineers do, who make literally double what us artists do here. They're trying to save money so they laid off I think 1 of them and then the others started leaving on their own, so now they're utilizing the people who aren't engineers to do their testing job, which is the entire engineers responsibilities here.
There's 1 other artist who's been teased with a promotion to engineer for the last 1.5 years, so our supervisor is sticking up for him and forcing him to go back to art, so that the supervisor will 'take the heat'. I feel obliged to stand with them and refuse to continue under my own accord to share some of the heat, which i understand might lead to firing. Our company's slowly dying so we're all jumping ship as fast as we can, but I don't want to stop receiving my income before I find a new place to work for.
on my employement agreement:” Employee agrees to perform such other duties, to include any required overtime, as shall be determined by [Company](…)”
I know they can fire me for any reason (at-will state), so I can get fired for refusing to do that work, but if I file for unemployment insurance and this company contests it, will Florida see that as reason to deny my claim?
