I applied to a nursing home. It was for a part time position. I already have another full time job. The position was to be 15 hours a week.
I went in for a shift that was 5-8pm. This shift was supposed to be for fire safety and orientation but the HR representative couldn't find the maintenance personnel when I got there so she put me at the front desk to job shadow. She then left and handed me a time sheet on paper to fill out. I filled it out and put it on her desk before leaving.
During that shift, I saw toxic behavior from the front desk and the nursing personnel. I was told by the receptionist I would be in charge if a patient went off site and and got lost but there were no cameras and no way of tracking them. The receptionist was stressed constantly and when I went to leave at 8pm she told me the next shift hasn't come yet so “she had to stay over until they showed”.
I called HR because they hadn't scheduled me another day to work after that. No answer. I called two more times throughout the next week and no one called me back so I decided this is probably a toxic workplace. My only other option was to go in and beg for work.
That was September 15th. I have never received any calls or letters from this employer and most certainly filled out a W-4. They owe me $45 before taxes. No one will pick up the phone and I can't get paid.
I live in PA. What should I do?
Also, the job listing has been re-posted on Indeed. This is a nursing home in Beaver Falls, PA called Franciscan Manor.
