So I currently work at a well known Denim retailer. Been there since 2016, and got promoted to part time manager when the previous person left in late 2018. For the longest time, I was told that the company would not allow another full time position. Due to us being a small outlet store in the middle of farm country. Got a new store manager around then as well and was told that she would give me full time hours, just not benefits of working full time. I was looking around at other stores last year at our mall and got a pretty decent offer for full time with benefits. She suspected I was looking elsewhere and the day I was going to put my 2 weeks notice in she offered me a legit full time position and benefits for free, as said denim retailer has a program for “free” healthcare with yearly checkins at approved doctors. I know she only did this to keep me from leaving, as I am one of the few employees there that can actually function at running the store. Seems like a sleezy tactic to not offer full time for years, then all of a sudden say I can with “free” benefits the day I was going to put my notice in.
