For the past few months I've been looking for a better position. Recruiters have been calling/texting basically every day. I noticed something funny. Two jobs ago I worked for a terrible company; they treated me badly, paid poorly, and eventually fired me illegally after I was injured due to their negligence. A few months ago this same company lost their main contract (due to management's short-term, short-sighted decisions) and is thus shrinking pretty substantially. In spite of this, they cannot keep enough people and are hiring however they can (other than offering good pay/benefits/work environment of course). It started with the recruiters near them, I turned them down. Then it was the recruiters near me, I turned them down. Then it was the recruiters in Milwaukee (1.5 hours away), then in Chicago (2.5 hours away). Today it was a recruiter in Ohio (8 hours away). It seems they are just hiring every recruiter they can find and as that fails they hire recruiters farther and farther away…but they don't do remote work or relocation assistance so those recruiters keep calling the locals that want nothing to do with this company.
Pay better? No. Fix the mismanagement? No. Hire a recruiter a day away to call people that have already refused to work for us? Yeah…that's a great idea!
