I was aggressively offered the IT man job at a small county office. The day to day was turning things off and on again and replugging loose cords. I may have had to do some general high school AV club level stuff for special occasions. The complicated part was putting together budget plans for new and replacement equipment and software licensing. Was assured anything above that they used a 3rd party contractor from the big city. The job posting was wanting all the usual certs and experience, but guy who was leaving said he would put in a good word for me. He told me the job is mostly handholding the technically challenged and not calling them out on their Id-10-t errors. He knew I was a people person. Now I have no certs or IT direct experience, but I have assisted IT a lot and was frequently used at jobs to fix simple stuff so they didn't have to do a ticket. I decided to pass, only because I knew my resume wouldn't even get me an interview. What would you have done?
