I’m currently writing a book where the seven deadly sins are a core theme. Each chapter (or episode) of the story is about one of the sins, and I’m trying to incorporate a subject that I can satirize. For sloth, I’m trying to satirize the “nobody wants to work anymore” mentality.
For context, the story of the chapter takes place on a tropical island (which is a mix of Key West, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii) where the workers of a fruit plantation have all gone on strike. They’re all pissed off at their boss because his treatment is horrible and he makes the working conditions awful. Of course, the boss just thinks the workers are lazy bums and that they don’t want to work anymore.
I’m looking for some inspiration for this chapter, so I’d like to hear your stories about how you’ve been treated by a bad boss or had awful work conditions and experiences. Any suggestions for ideas for the story would be appreciated as well.
