You have punished me to my breaking point, boss-man.

I (29f) have been working for a fast food chain for the last five months. When I was hired, I made them VERY aware I just found out I was pregnant, and I would have my various appointments and such to go to. I also informed him that I had therapy that I had to go to as well. He accepted and said it would be no problem, so I started a week later. About a month passes into my first trimester and job there, and morning sickness is hitting me terribly. I get sent home early twice by two managers and I ultimately have to call in for one day because it's so bad and the bathroom has become my best friend. After that, the manager started to cut my hours. He said it was to help me, and I thought I understood, because, hey we were also going…

I (29f) have been working for a fast food chain for the last five months. When I was hired, I made them VERY aware I just found out I was pregnant, and I would have my various appointments and such to go to. About a month passes into my first trimester and job there, and morning sickness is hitting me terribly. I get sent home early twice by two managers and I ultimately have to call in for one day because it's so bad and the bathroom has become my best friend.

After that, the manager started to cut my hours. He said it was to help me, and I thought I understood, because, hey we were also going through our dead spell in January/Febuary. But, when I started feeling good again, he continued it for a nother couple of weeks.

Then another girl was brought to the team. She was also pregnant, and I started to notice things that she was able to do, but I wasn't. Like bringing a stool to the driveway to sit because of her pregnancy, but when I did it, I would get scolded. So, I went out of my way to suffer through my pains, while she continued to do the minimal.

Fast forward another two months. My step-father has passed away and I found out by a sudden phone call from my mother. Devestated, I rushed home and went with my mother out-of-town to deal with his passing. I had to call out a total of five days to deal with anything, then I came back to work like nothing had happened, because I needed the money I lost. Cue again, when my manager cut my hours for the next two weeks. Worked me two days for one week, and three for another.

Now, I am starting to see things add up. My due date is getting closer, so I went ahead and requested the rest of my doctor's appointments off, leading up to the due date. My boss walks into the office as I do this and says “Don't tell me you are requesting more days off,” and when I tell him what they are for, he proceeds to post in the job's group chat a message saying that requesting off doctor's appointments were one thing, but people needed to be mindful of extracurricular activities because so many people have requested off.

Oh, and right before he posts this, he says to me, “This isn't about you, but it's about you.”

I'm silently fuming at this point. But now, here is the final straw.

I had three appointments that just so happened to land on the same schedule, a dentist, a doctor, and a therapy appointment. I requested those three days off, and went one about my day because the are all appointments spread out throughout that week. I have four days I can still work.

The new schedule got printed off, I have had all my hours cut down to one single eight hour shift on the last day of week. Because of this, and last weeks schdule lining up, I effectively have eight days off in a row.

I have decided to use the time to find a new job and have line up three interviews over the next few days.

When I do find a new job, I plan to hand my uniform over to my manager with a smile while telling him.

“It's not about you, but it's about you.”
