Your unpreparedness is not my problem

5 months ago a team member joined our department. She let us know right away that she is 4 months pregnant. For more than 2 months I’ve offered to take on her responsibilities when she goes on FMLA for a bit of extra overtime. Management was adamant that they would bring in a temp. 3 weeks ago they found one, I worked for hours with her on training and Monday this week she decided it wasn’t for her. For more than 2 months I’ve offered to take on her responsibilities when she goes on FMLA for a bit of extra overtime. Management was adamant that they would bring in a temp. 3 weeks ago they found one, I worked for hours with her on training and Monday this week she decided it wasn’t for her. Yesterday the team member who’s pregnant gets told to work from home (our jobs are still very paper based so this is not great for me who’s still here).

This morning I was asked to do her duties, so in response I asked if we would be absorbing her duties and was told it’s not long term and they’re interviewing other temps (who I’d be expected to train). I said I won’t be doing the task because it’s time consuming and I have my own work to do, and I’m not going to work for free.

Now I’m seen as not being a team player and asked very sarcastically if things would inconvenience me to do. Like I didn’t give them options beforehand.
