I have gone back and forth about this for a couple days. I make $16 an hr at a small company. No benefits. Our orders have been low due to the way the economy is and our boss has us leaving early most days and some days as early as 9am for some. I work 7-3 and live about 30 minutes away. I started this job in 2020 making $12 then quickly got bumped up to $13. In 2021 I only got $16 because I overheard them offering another lady $14 who has since left the company. I process our orders and the only person who knows how, basically also IT and deal with all our online orders. I can’t miss work or take days off because my boss acts like it’s a crime. I have two kids and have to squeeze in appointments after work or leave and come back which is extra driving on my part. This boss I have known for years as we worked together before at a different company but I didn’t work directly under them. I feel like I am putting too much emotion into it because I love my job itself but not the people anymore and am stressed everyday I leave. I have applied to other jobs and received a call for a job making $17 I know it’s only $1 but to me I see it as a way out to keep looking for something better. I am currently enrolled in online classes for Human Services and still have about a year in a half left. I just don’t want to keep doors shut for other opportunities.
