Director not paying his own daughter to work for the company

I (23M) work as the sole employee in Marketing for an electrical engineering company that has recently seen a downturn in revenue and a very high turnover of staff – main reasons being the usual refusal to pay a market wage for hardworking employees. I finally decided to make the move away from the company and was informed that my role would be taken over by the directors 18 year old daughter while she completes an apprenticeship course. I said that this is clearly a mistake as she will have no one to learn from herself, and the company needs someone with at least some experience in similar roles. Anyway whilst training her up today before I leave, she tells me that despite her being in for 20 hours this week, that she doesn't start to get paid until she 'properly' starts once I leave and her apprenticeship course begins.…

I want to LEARN, not more MONEY

Let me tell you my story. I started working at the company I'm currently in when I was 24 years old (2016). They taught me the trade until I became self-sufficient. A couple of years ago, I asked to be assigned to a new role to grow professionally. My boss always told me that he would allow it, but first, he needed to find someone to replace me in my current position. In all this time (3 years), he hasn't been able to find anyone (it's a complicated job with low pay). Every time I complained about it, I was given a raise, but nothing ever changed. A few weeks ago, I hinted that I would leave if things didn't change quickly (especially since they keep hiring people for the role I wanted to have). At this point, they decided to hire a 60-year-old experienced person out of fear that…

My job wouldn’t give us time and a half on Labor Day but gave us double the write up if we call out. Is this fair and/or legal?

Just want to vent’ very sorry, but need to.

My manager is fucking crazy. Doesn't contribute to projects, but just 'manages'; like – I'm going on a break and when I get back I want this done. This request comes while Im asleep and there's no way I can tell her that what she's asking is not a 1.5 day job, but a week long worth of efforts. She's taken away all the motivation to work. I'm not working, I'm doing what she tells me to do. Im slaving. And most of it doesn't even make sense. I hate my life! I'm quiet quitting. Fuck her fuck the project fuck them all.

Property Management Metrics

I work in maintenance for a regional company, and in the first month I have no complaints. The people I work with are awesome, and the pay is fair. My question is to anyone who may have better insight into how to read into the metrics behind property management, and what questions to ask (not ask) to get a better feel for how healthy this company really is. We have a meeting coming up with multiple representatives at the regional/corporate/owner level in a couple weeks, and I want to be prepared to have my questions answered without sounding like an idiot. Looking at casually asking about these: -Net Operating Income -Lead to Lease ratio Short list, but any KPI's are on my mind as well.

Happy eff-ing Labor Day. [USA].

rant TL/DR at the end. I work in an office nights. I had to work last night and I have to work tonight. There is no labor day off for me. In addition to that, the new younger boss has chosen tonight to “shadow” me so I can teach him what I am doing. I applied for his job. I did not get it. He was supposed to be an assistant to the older boss. On the organizational chart, he has the same job title as the older boss and the same supervisor as the older boss. My suspicion is that he has bern brought in to get rid of both the older boss and me. I am even older than the older boss. Accurate or not, my feelings is that new younger boss will be gathering what he can tonight to make a case for firing me. I am…

Thank you, union

This is a small win, but a win none the less. This takes place in Europe, where there's more protection for workers right. Not a brag, just context. Was let go from my job for very BS reasons and considered the matter closed. I was given 6 weeks salary, and the company and I parted ways. After some back and forth, I talked to the legal service provided by my union about if there was anything that could be done, and it turns out that while the termination was legal, the company wasn't following the legislation about how much I was owed after they let me go. A brief email back to the company, and their response was basically 'Oops, our bad'. Although they really dragged their feet in getting a new termination contract, I've now secured 14 weeks salary, since the company decided they should probably follow local laws.…

To those who have to work on Labor Day

To everyone having to go into work today, just know that there is a huge community behind you and we are here to listen and help. Right now, there is a huge struggle between workers and management/owners, and the capitalists have the upper hand. For now. Unions are diminishing, the propaganda is thick against organized labor, and the threats to our livelihood are very real. But the day is coming when our power won't be confined to complaining on a reddit sub. We will eventually realize how to band together and make the world hospitable to a strong middle class, and shrink the lower and upper classes back down to manageable size. Happy Labor Day and to those working: thank you for holding it together for everyone else.

Happy Labor day to everyone, including my former boss.

I have 3 jobs, and barely covers everything. I drink 2-4 energy drinks a day to function, and take over the counter sleep aids just to get some shut eye. One of my jobs was at an independently own BBQ place. The type where the owners wife is in-charge of the HR, hiring, payroll, and is second-in-command the rest of the time. I normally work Thursday – Friday. But at the end of the night I was ask to come in Saturday – Sunday – Monday. I asked if there was a bonus in it for working the holiday, and I was told no, but if I didn't show up, than not to bother coming in ever again. Guess who has over 40 text messages and several voice messages from asking me polity to come in to cursing out my family lineage about not showing up for my barely above…
