So this is at my job that I left 5 months ago so I no longer live in fear of writing about this since the company I worked for (charter spectrum) had a record for finding and firing people who posted to Reddit. Anyway up until July of 2021 my entry level sales position at a telecommunications retail store had paid $15/hr plus $1050 monthly commission if you hit your sales goals. Once word got out that we’d be going to $18 an hour everyone got excited, but then when we actually signed the paperwork for the raise itself I noticed that my commission would drop down to only $650 a month. In addition to lowering the commission payout they raised expectations since we had a couple people leave recently so that means we should be able to pick up their sales. All in all even if you hit your bloated goals it all boiled out to be a $80 a month raise for more work. That among other reasons including a very toxic workplace filled with workers rights violations is why I left Charter Spectrum.
Edit: I also confirmed with every other worker within my region that their commission had also gone down to that amount so this was not only targeted at me.
