2 years, more responsibility

TL;DR – Just a rant from someone tired of having to choose between quality of life, and keeping the lights on. I have worked 2 years nearly at my current company, started out through an agency, getting paid ?9.50? /hour. After two years, I'm not even at 18.00, and I'm responsible for departments that aren't mine, because brass won't approve us to fill the positions on my shift. We are still expected to meet the same quota as the opposite shift, find out middle of the week if we need to cancel our weekend plans, and here's the real kicker: not even a pizza party. This is a multimillion dollar company, mind you. I've been denied raises, due to my gender, as it's more of a production environment, and I'm not sucking dick or kissing ass. The state I'm in is one that can fire you for no reason, doesn't…

The state I'm in is one that can fire you for no reason, doesn't matter if you had perfect attendance, saved the company thousands of dollars, or created process changes that made the work environment safer. If they don't like you, they'll walk you out and that's that.

Why do certain states have the 'right to work' and some don't? The only protected status I have is my Veteran status, but all that means is that they can flex me to do several jobs while paying me base rate.

What is the most tactful approach to asking for compensation, and can I expect to have my job listed and be out on my ass for doing so?
