i have some of the lowest rent in my area, as far as i can tell—$700. found a house/apartment rental (unclear which it is) for $750 a month, plus $450 down payment and a $30 touring fee? so i have to pay at least $30 and maybe not even get to live there? i know it’s not illegal. it’s just completely, utterly f*cked, and i don’t want to live on this planet anymore

I work in a specific department at Company X. I love my position, and I'm good at it. Many other people at this company have moved up from my position to a supervisor position, and while I've been asked time and time again, “Why haven't you gone for supervisor?” “When are you going to apply for supervisor?” “You're ready for a supervisor position.” Basically led to believe they really wanted me badly and I was a shoe-in. I have stood my ground, proclaiming that I like the department I'm in. The supervisor position pays a couple bucks more an hour, but it's more stressful. Until now, I've been mostly okay with getting a little less pay in exchange for actually loving my job. Recent times, however, have demanded a higher paycheck for most of us. I'd been considering it for a few months, but I'll only work a morning/day position…
Job postings without salary listed
Just a reminder that if you are searching for work and an employer won’t post the salary, or in lieu of the salary, claims “competitive wages,” it’s best not to reward their shit behavior by applying anyway. Skip and move on. They’ll either take the hint eventually and update the listing, or they won’t. You don’t have to start the chess game by making yourself as vulnerable as possible right off the bat.

Illegal part time job?
Hi all, My girlfriend works for the same yoga company but in two different capacities. She teaches classes in one function and get paid hourly for that, but separately manages the work space, scheduling, and communications Which she is also paid hourly for. These are both for the same company but treated as seperate positions. Independently the two seperate jobs are not over 40 hours, but together it's close to 60. Is that legal? Shouldn't this be considered full time with benefits? Where can I got to find more information? Edit: live in Central Massachusetts
My Dad is gonna get worked to death.
Idk how to start this post, but let's just start with that my dad has been working at the same position as a butcher for the same guy who runs the local meat supplier here in the Philippines for over 20+ Years now. His been working for the same guy before i was even born. He goes to work at 4 PM and comes home at 6 AM. Every single day with no breaks except for holidays. He had this same schedule for my entire life and we always had a strained relationship because we didn't have time to go out as a family as his either sleeping or at work. His workplace has a no work no pay policy and that basically means he can't catch a break. For years now when me and my Mom are out on a vacation he stays alone at home and continues to…
Now we all have to either quit this job, quit our day jobs, or completely fuck over the sleep schedule we've adapted to so we can work day shift. To make things worse, those who stay and transition to day shift will have their hours drastically cut (from 32-40 down to 24). This cut not only affects paychecks, but also health benefits and time off accrual. Additionally, those who stay and work days will be paid less per hour, as overnights included a differential. Just when I thought I'd found a company that actually gives a shit about their workers…
I’m quitting my job in few moments.
Guys, Give me some strength and support as after almost 16 years in Investment Bank I’ve decided there are more important things in life (after losing both parents and another 3 close people in less than few months). I’m stressed. Just about to go for a meeting to say that and then send email with 30 days notice. Have your fingers crossed.
