edit: for context my job isnt done worse when tired and I'm not going to reach over time this week /e I'm just so tired of this dumb culture… This job isn't even driven by bad motives, its a non-profit public service and when we got a new government grand within a day we all had a 15% raise. but the fact that almost every other job out there is so micro managed and bureaucratic, it spills over. I'm exhausted and broke and I don't know how I'm going to manage once I reach the age where my body can't do this anymore.

Two incomes, lower quality of life
They’re so worried about unemployment rates, but for most of American History, women didn’t work. Employment rates were at like 50% and you could buy a house with a single income. If you’re over 45 and you think that you bought your house because you worked harder than young adults today then you’re lying to yourself. People can’t fathom what the world is going to look like when automation or AI replace half of existing careers. Well, just look back in time 70 years and you’ll see it’s very doable.
I've left this job just over a month ago, even though I ddidn't have anything else lined up, I'm still unemployed, but that's because I won't apply to any other shitty jobs again, unless absolutely necessary. Anyway, worked for a past 2-3 years as an maintenence technician/electrician in a manufacturing plant. Working all kind of shifts, morning, afternoon, night, overtime. Pay wasn't great for this kind of work either and my boss was one of the most narcissistic egoist persons I ever met. Constantly talking bad about everyone, even people he drinks coffee every day and hangs out off work. He would do anything to get himself on top, and he enjoyed being needed when there were problems. For the last year of so, I was the guy that replaced my coworkers when they took the sick or days off. That means working even stranger shifts and never knowing when…
Haven’t you guys noticed?
It’s actually more engaging with an employee that is sitting down on the job than it is with one that is roaming the store like a robot nonstop, or is just standing again like a robot 24/7. So that goes for customer service as well. Maybe it’s because our social psychology allows us to realize that they are being normal and realistic than it being a corpse that spits out the same “customer service lines” like a vending machine. Nobody can stand and walk around 3 hours more than an LA drive from the bay area. Sometimes I just think about that horrible drive i’ve done in my life and at work here in America they want you to do this everyday and hamster wheel this shit. What’s wrong with white people? Yes it’s you guys. Do you guys socialize with humans or is that why you guys all have…
Why does my post keep getting removed?
It’s a message from a boss. It’s Sunday. What’s the issue?

Working without heat at dollar general
So I live in northern Michigan. Our store was closed for a carbon monoxide leak. Nothing has been fixed but “there is things that need done” and I can't turn down any hours at this point. Is there anything I can legally do because even though it's only a 4 hour shift, this is going to suck with a high of 17 outside.
